Position: Skilled Carpenter | High-End Residential
Company: CBI Construction
Location: Northern Beaches, Sydney
About the Role
As our Skilled Carpenter, you will be the on-site craft leader across our high-end residential builds. Your mission is to deliver exceptional architectural detailing, guide our apprentices, and drive projects from structural framing through to bespoke finishing—all while working with a crew that respects your trade and leaves their ego at the door.
Because we value true craftsmanship over rushed, "near enough" deadlines, this role offers the autonomy to take pride in your work on local Northern Beaches projects without the chaos of poorly managed sites.
Your core focus will include:
Construction & Structural Framing: Read plans inside and out, spotting discrepancies early while leading everything from structural timber framing to precision window and door installations.
High-End Finishing: Master the fine detailing—delivering bespoke woodwork, crown molding, and custom cabinetry that is level, square, and flawless.
Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, support, and mentor our 1st- and 2nd-year apprentices so they learn valuable trade skills while keeping sites clean, safe, and organized.
Forward Planning: Look ahead on the build schedule to ensure materials and tools are ready for the upcoming week, keeping site momentum high without downtime.
Collaborative Site Culture: Work seamlessly with site foremen and subcontractors, keeping communication clear and our "first-time right" standard consistently high.
Skills and Experience
Trade Qualified: You hold a Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent), a valid White Card, and a current Driver’s License.
Proven Track Record: You bring at least 5 years of hands-on, post-trade experience in high-end residential builds or architectural renovations.
Craftsmanship & Problem-Solving: You know your tools inside and out, have an uncompromising eye for detail, and pragmatically solve on-site challenges when they arise.
People First: You know how to patiently coach junior carpenters and work respectfully alongside clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
Local Mindset: You live on or near the Northern Beaches and want to build stunning architectural homes in your local area without the grueling cross-city commute.

Quality Over Speed: Work for a builder that prioritizes high-spec craftsmanship over cutting corners and rushed deadlines.
Local Projects: Say goodbye to long-distance traffic—focus on premium residential sites located around the Northern Beaches.
No-Ego Culture: Join a supportive, highly organized crew where hard work is recognized and communication is straightforward and honest.
Long-Term Career Growth: Enjoy permanent stability with an established company that invests in its team and offers clear opportunities to step up into site leadership.
